Mainstay Cane Spirit 750ml ,is 'Pure and Original' cane spirit, distilled from fermented molasses in the continuous column still method.
Mainstay is a brand that many South Africans can recall, when you talk about Rum. A legend within the white spirits category, Mainstay has evolved successful line extensions. It offers a convenient ready-to-drink classic fruit cocktail drink range and is now available as a super-premium Island vodka, namely Mainstay 54 Island Vodka, as well as a flavoured derivative, Mainstay Fusion.
Launched in Kwazulu-Natal in 1954, the brand built an enviable national footprint within 13 years. By the late 60s, volumes had exceeded 4.5 million litres, with initial production being handled by Henry Tayler and Ries, followed by Sedgwick Tayler and then by Distell’s predecessor, Stellenbosch Farmers’ Winery (SFW), before the merger of SFW and Distillers Corporation which became Distell in 2000.
Impressively, volumes peaked in the early 80s, making Mainstay the number one-selling spirit in South Africa and to date, no other spirit has reached these lofty heights. Built on the premise that with Mainstay consumers could ‘escape’ – the brand’s marketing still follows a similar line – with its 2010 relaunch which sees a modernised version of the iconic jingle: “You can stay as you are for the rest of your life or you can change to Mainstay” still being heard in the brand’s TV commercial.
It complies with the norm of 43% alc/vol.

I have been Mainstay Cane drinker since my fitst visit to SA in 1981.What I have noticed is the price has risen so much that I now cannot afford as much as I would like I vist Africa every year and Mainstay Cane there is so much cheaper and still of the same high quality. Why is the price so high when I can get Mainstay from other suppliers in the UK at a more realistic price. Please let us know where and we will see if we can source it from there suppliers and let you have it at the same price, regrads LS
