But don’t worry, in this article we’re going to talk you through each step so you know exactly what to do when your biltong delivery arrives!

Storing your biltong

The key to storing biltong is to keep it cool and dry, which will prevent it from going mouldy. You should keep your biltong sealed in its bag until you decide to eat it. Once opened, we would recommend putting it in an open bowl and mixing it up daily until consumed.

How long does biltong last?

Typically, biltong should last for at least 4-6 days before there is risk of any mold developing. To extend its shelf life, we would recommend keeping it in the fridge or even freezing it as it can last in a freezer for a few months. When defrosting your biltong, put it into a bowl, make sure it is aired and any moisture from freezing evaporates away. Keep mixing up the biltong to loosen up the pieces and use kitchen towel to daub away any excess moisture.
